Make Hay While the Sun Shines
Featuring the Hay Rake Ballet
Save the date for Sept. 12, 2026 (rain date Sept. 26), as the full production of choreographer Sarah Gordon Butler's Hay Rake Ballet coincides with an active hay harvest. This production is part of a two-hour event that transforms the rural landscape into a living stage, highlighting professional dancers, musicians, local farmers, and the fertile land where inspiration grows.
Walking and Talking
Stories in Motion
Artist Patricia Tinajero revisits Wormfarm this summer and reconnects with Puentes/Bridges, continuing her experiential project of walking rural roads in Wisconsin and stopping at farms along the way to engage in conversations about the land, labor, memory, and migration. The artist will collect stories, drawings, and audio for a second publication about the journey.
Decomposium 2026
Decomposition and renewal
Join a wide variety of artists, soil scientists, farmers, musicians, poets, and cultural practitioners for Decomposium, Oct. 9-11, 2026. Our hub at the historic Park Hall in Sauk City, Wis., and the nearby Freethinkers Annex, will host performances, installations, panel discussions, workshops, and rituals rooted in decomposition, change, and ecological interdependence.
Flyway Project
Cultivating Connections
Artist Austen Camille, along with the first cohort of Flyway Fellows, returns to Wormfarm this growing season to re-engage with local community leaders, land stewards and educators. They will begin a two-year curatorial research effort investigating how cultural change happens as art, agriculture, conservation, science and intentional conversation intersect.
MdW 2026 Summit
representing Wisconsin art
Wormfarm continues as Wisconsin partner in the MdW Coalition, advancing mutual aid and resilience across Midwestern artist-led projects. At the June 2026 Detroit Summit, 300+ initiatives will convene for a week of programming. Wormfarm’s work will also be featured in an archival exhibition, placing it within a broader regional network of creative practice.
