Wormfarm Institute is “rotating the crops” as it celebrates 25 years of connecting rural and urban neighbors through culture and agriculture. This year, Wormfarm is developing new projects while announcing the conclusion of two of its most beloved programs, the Farm/Art DTour and Fermentation Fest.
From 2011 to 2024, the Farm/Art DTour punctuated Sauk County farmlands with site-responsive art installations, roadside poetry and live pasture performances, drawing tens of thousands to appreciate what farmers do everyday. Fermentation Fest: A Live Culture Convergence celebrated food, farming and transformation with accompanying tastings and workshops.
“These programs helped define us,” said Executive Director Donna Neuwirth. “But as with any healthy ecosystem, change is essential. We’ve learned a lot in our years of inviting artists to respond to working lands, and now we’re planting new Test Plots in the fertile soil created by these long-running programs.”
