Fermentation Fest 2021 took place at Witwen Park with a two-day celebration of live culture in all its forms. For this special Grassland Edition, Wormfarm Institute partnered with researchers at the Grassland 2.0 project (University of Wisconsin–Madison) to showcase the rich cultural history of integrating dance, music and art into farming traditions, and the power of regenerative, grassland-based agriculture to support healthy communities, ecosystems and people.

Visitors Guide

Presented at the historic Witwen Park in Sauk County, WI, the fest included demos, art, performances from dance to “Grassical” music in an open-air Tabernacle to Scandinavian cow calling, local food, fermented beverages & more. We invited both our rural and urban neighbors to take part in this polycultural rural revival!

 Presented by Wormfarm Institute, this 50-mile self-guided route is punctuated by site-responsive artworks, pasture performances, roadside poetry, local food markets and artist-led civic engagement.
