Choreographer & performance artist Sarah Butler is hosting a series of free movement workshops for community members as a part of this year’s Farm/Art DTour! The workshops will use movement to explore listening & decision making as a group, and will culminate as an outdoor performance of roughly 20 minutes in length along the DTour route.
The movements and compositions will be pedestrian and simple, so there is no previous dance or performance experience required in order to take part. Just a desire or curiosity to join! Though any folks with movement backgrounds are absolutely welcome and appreciated.
The performance will invite participants and audiences to consider that stewarding this land is a choreographed effort among many, and that a web of nuanced, creative decisions made by many have shaped, and continue to shape, our agri/cultural landscapes.
We are looking for individuals who are able to commit to at least 2 of the following five workshop dates, plus the performance dates of October 5 + 6.
Thursday September 19, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Saturday September 21, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Thursday September 26, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Saturday September 28, 10:30 am – 12:00 pm
Thursday October 3, 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm
Saturday October 5 (time TBD
Sunday October 6 (time TBD)
Let’s celebrate the beauty of slowing down, of listening, of moving together as a community, and creating something special together!
