Laura Annis

Laura Annis is an artist currently based in Baraboo, WI. Her studio work is known for incorporating varied materials including scroll saw cut imagery that when layered utilizes negative space and silhouette to create a multidimensional painting. Making a living in Chicago by working in technical theater profoundly shaped the manner in which Laura approaches her creative process. Experimenting with materials, tools, and techniques she combines her varied skill sets to create unique and non traditional work. These intricate artworks are deeply inspired by pagan folklore, nature’s cyclical patterns, and the symbiotic relationships that thrive within the natural world. Through these cut out compositions, Laura explores themes of interconnectedness, the feminine divine, and the beauty found in both the visible and invisible elements of nature. In addition to this studio work, Laura is also a muralist with work spanning from local to international locations. She is the recent recipient of the 2026 Statewide artist grant from Create Wisconsin and The Ruth Foundation for the Arts to continue to cultivate her artistic practice.
