CHURCH! is a live scripted talk show exploring themes of spirituality as we experience them in our everyday lives. Host Paul Karner takes the audience on an absurd, bumbling, possibly ill-fated journey toward unknowable truths bolstered by the occasional fleeting moment of transcendence. This special performance created for Decomposium explores Biogeochemical cycles of planet Earth, the metaphysics and activism of Simone Weil, and the notion of ambivalence as a place of spiritual grounding. It features acclaimed geologist Marcia Bjornerud along with a selection of participating Decomposium artists.

Paul Karner is an artist that prioritizes practice over fixed concepts or mediums. This is evident in the processes undergirding his musical compositions (under the PK Flyer moniker), his micro-paintings, and performances of CHURCH!; a recurring show produced in Chicago where he explores the bumbling journey of spiritual wellbeing in our absurd contemporary world. Paul lives in Chicago and is currently an MFA candidate at University of Illinois Chicago ('27).
