Program Details

Antarabhava is a participatory performance-installation excerpt exploring impermanence, mortality, and communal mourning rituals. Through live movement and music, collective ritual and conversation, the work flows through cycles of creation, dissolution, and return. The project invites reflection on how we prepare for, honor, and live alongside death as a part of the natural world.

Kinnari Vora is a Chicago-based dancer, choreographer, and educator whose work explores universal human experiences through movement, meditation, and communal healing rituals. Guided by ancestral wisdom, the natural world, and a belief in our interconnectedness, she creates performance installations that invite reflection and collective witnessing. She is co-founder of Ishti Collective and collaborates with Surabhi Ensemble, engaging artists and communities in projects centered on care, connection, and cultural exchange. A licensed physical therapist and yoga practitioner, Kinnari works at the intersection of movement and healing, creating sensory spaces for rest, grief, storytelling through projects such as Antarabhava, Kissing the Earth, University of Chicago Medicine's Healing Arts project. Her work has been presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, the Art Institute of Chicago, Ragdale Foundation, Pivot Arts Festival, Detroit Dance City Festival, and internationally across India, Mexico, Vietnam, Israel and Europe. She is a 2022 Chicago Dancemakers Forum Lab Artist.
